Police
The Sterling Police Department continually strives to promote, preserve, and deliver a feeling of security, safety and quality service to the Sterling community. In 1991, we began our transition into Community Policing. Today, we continue to experiment and evolve.
Our focus now is twofold; to work with citizens and government to improve the quality of life in Sterling and also to concentrate on the youth of the community.
Mission Statement
In 2020, then newly appointed Police Chief Alejandro Chavira designated the following mission, which the Department would seek to undertake:
We, the members of the Sterling Police Department, are committed to excellence in law enforcement and are dedicated to the people, traditions, and diversity of our City. We will provide service with understanding, response with compassion, performance with integrity, and law enforcement with vision.
Information for Better & Safer Neighborhoods
The City ordinances listed in the Citizen Courtesy Information for Better and Safer Neighborhoods (PDF) are summaries of some of the more common violations the Sterling Police have to deal with. By keeping you, the citizens informed and working together in partnership with the police, we can improve the quality of life in our neighborhood and make it a better and safer place to live.
We hope you find this information helpful. If you have any questions pertaining to these ordinances, please feel free to call the Sterling Police Department.
